Who Are Mercanta?

Mercanta are importers of specialty coffee, supplying roasters across the globe with the world’s finest green Arabica coffee. We pride ourselves on offering professional and impartial advice to clients on subjects ranging from coffee profiles to sourcing models. Founded in 1996 by Stephen Hurst in a small office in Southwest London, we are now a team of over 25 employees of 13 different nationalities, located in 7 cities across 3 continents. Mercanta’s supply chain reaches 20 producing countries, offering fully traceable coffees from 7 warehouses enabling us to provide a streamlined and efficient service to more than 50 countries worldwide.  

The name ‘Mercanta’ is a combination of the word ‘Merchant,’ and the Spanish phrase ‘Encantada.’ One would use this saying when meeting a person for the first time, translating as ‘I am enchanted to meet you.’ This phrase encapsulates a way of business that we have championed since inception, one that has always placed relationships first.
