Last Friday there was much excitement in the office as we became the proud possessors of ‘Mercanta’ engraved cupping spoons.
As eager as we were to test them out straight away, we knew they would benefit in the long run from a little tempering. Although the need to season a roaster is widely accepted in the business, the pros and cons of seasoning cupping spoons in order to increase their ‘spooniness’ are rarely discussed.
The easiest method for this is to soak the spoons in a coffee solution for three days so, with the Easter break ahead, it provided the perfect opportunity.
With a slight of hand each spoon was placed in a jar, covered with the coffee solution and the caps were well screwed on. As the long weekend meant no one would be in the office to decant them, our conundrum was where to leave the jars. So we imposed upon Josh, our new work experience kid around, to take them home and empty them on Monday.
Now all we have to do is wait until tomorrow to test them out…we are sure it will have paid off.
