Each year, Mercanta donates coffee contract and quality data to the Specialty Coffee Transaction Guide team. Their work is focused on gathering similar data from numerous other donors in order to understand various pricing benchmarks for the specialty coffee market. This allows people involved with the coffee supply chain to rely on something other than the C-market to ensure equality and sustainable incomes are provided to all involved, especially producers.
Producers are the backbone of coffee production, and we must pay them livable wages to continue growing coffee whilst also supporting their families. Read further to see what the Transaction Guide revealed last year, especially in light of the frost in Brazil and the civil unrest in Colombia. It was a tumultuous year, indeed.
