Oliver is a current Human Geography student at University of Leeds, undertaking a year in industry at Mercanta.
He couldn’t imagine anything better than being at Mercanta surrounded by passionate coffee experts.
His interest in coffee started during a weeklong visit to Nicaraguan coffee farm – fascinated by the farmers meticulous detail and skill that went towards maintaining this small organic farm, in the most beautiful place he has ever experienced. Since then, coffee has been the defining feature of his university studies, as it encapsulates so many of the areas that he finds most interesting (global supply chain issues, the history of global inequalities, social and environmental justice).
When Oliver returns to university, he will continue to focus on coffee. Along with academic interest in coffee, the drink itself has been equally important to him. Discovering new coffees, cafes and roasteries has been exciting, and it’s taken me to new places in the UK and around Europe.
In his spare time, Oliver also loves rock climbing.
