“My favourite cup of coffee is shared with friends, brewed with an Aeropress and possibly sipped in the wilderness. To make it even better, the coffee has to be sweet with a full body and complex floral notes.”
Originally from Genova, an Italian city with a strong maritime history, Lorenzo graduated in 2019 from Copenhagen Business School with a bachelor degree in Shipping and Trade. After a short-lived experience as a shipping broker and agent, Lorenzo realised the maritime industry was not his cup of… coffee!
As coffee had always been a big part of the culture for Lorenzo, the idea of diving deeper into the industry fascinated him. This led Lorenzo to apply for a student assistant position at NKG Italy. Immediately after, thanks to the help of Andrej Godina, he found himself being shipped off to a specialty farm and cooperative in Honduras, where he worked for six months.
This is where Lorenzo first fell in love with specialty coffee. As soon as he came back to Europe, he applied for a position at Mercanta. Even though the timing wasn’t perfect due to the pandemic, Lorenzo was given the opportunity to join the Mercanta team.
Lorenzo now manages sales in Italy, providing Italian roasters with some of the most delicious and sustainable coffee beans on the planet!
