Emma’s journey with coffee started in 2013 in New Zealand where she trained to be a barista – she quickly learned to love the art of great quality coffee and continued to work for specialty coffee companies on her travels through Switzerland, England and finally settling back home in Glasgow.
Seeking a deeper knowledge of the coffee industry – when the opportunity to work for the Mercanta lab in Glasgow arose, Emma snapped it up! She has acquired so much great knowledge already and currently learning everything lab related under the watchful eye of “Mercanta legend” – Stephen Cornford.
Ethical coffee trade is something Emma is passionate about and feel her values align greatly with Mercanta’s. She strives to work for companies who care about people and our planet and was delighted to read about Mercanta’s ‘Green Sourcing Method’ and sustainability commitments.
Her other interests include travel, music and writing. She also teaches song-writing within an inclusive arts company called Paragon and when not working at the Mercanta lab she is a performing musician, teacher and composer.
