Jade Mountain

Farmers in the region are accustomed to pulping and sundrying
their own parchment. Drawbacks to this system, in
addition to the labour required, are that the infrastructure is
highly variable and often quite rustic. Furthermore, the
weather in the region is highly unpredictable due to the
mountains’ influence, and showers can rapidly deteriorate
the drying product, resulting in moldy and fermented coffee.

Jade Mountain

Coffee production in Vietnam is concentrated in the
Central Highlands (80%), where this coffee hails from.
Our partner in Vietnam has worked to locate over 6,000
smallholder farms throughout the Lam Dong region,
who grow the Catimor varietal. These lots were then
combined and processed to create this Jade Mountain
blend.

This microlot has been carefully selected as being of
exceptional quality by our partner in Vietnam, who
represents and provides support for several hundred
small-scale Arabica producers throughout the Lam
Dong province in Vietnam’s Central Highlands. Each
farmer owns from 1 to 1.5 hectares, and most rely upon
coffee as their sole source of income.

About Vietnam

As the second leading producer of coffee, Vietnam is not known for its Arabica coffee production. Rather, it is a powerhouse producer of robusta thanks to strong government support during the recovery period after the Vietnam War. However, work at origin is helping promote Arabica production and high-quality coffee.
