Meet Mercanta’s newest Stephen..
Stephen Cornford took his first steps into the world of speciality coffee with Mercanta back in August, when he approached us for work experience. He has since been taken on as a permanent member of the Mercanta team and now works alongside Oli in our lab, where he assists with roasting, sample dispatch, cupping and many other lab-related activities.
Stephen’s enthusiaim for coffee has been with him for the best part of his life - an interest which covers all aspects of the coffee industry from seed to cup. He is particularly passionate about brewed coffee and this year he intends to enter the World Brewers Cup.
Originally hailing from an art degree in the countryside, Stephen’s current direction might seem unsual - but his sensitive palate, keen eye for detail and passion for experimentation and data couldn’t put him in a more suitable position.
